I took my car here a few months ago for some body repair after a car accident. I chose this place because my insurance company uses them. First, let me say, they did a good job repairing the damage. The paint looks good and blends in pretty well with the rest of the paint on my 10 year old car. The lady at the desk in front is friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. I also liked that you can go to their website and see how your car looks while they're working on it.

My issues started with my headlight that needed replacing because it was damaged. I was told before any work was done that they were required by the insurance company to use used parts first but if they couldn't find a comparable part in good condition then they would order a new part. When I went to pick up my car, I walked in the building without examining the car because I assumed that the guy handling my repair would come out with me and walk around the car to examine the work. Nope. He walked out of his office and asked me if everything looked OK on the car. I paid and went outside to get in my car and noticed that one of my front headlights was much more faded than the other. I replaced the headlights in January and told them this when I dropped the car off for repair.

There was no way, I was going to drive that car out of there without a new headlight since that is what was in there before and the front of the car now looked utterly ridiculous with one super bright headlight and one dingy one. I went back and told Billy that the used headlight was not even a close match to the other one and my understanding was that a new one would be ordered since a comparable replacement could not be found.

To his credit, he sent it back to the shop to have one of the workers sand it some more but it still looked an obviously used light next to a super bright new one. After an annoying back and forth exchange with Billy, he eventually understood that I was not going to accept my car with this light on it. He said that they would send a request to the insurance company to order a new head light.

A few days later, I get an email from the insurance company that the estimate had been changed from around $1950 to almost $2500. The new headlight was less than $200 so I questioned the insurance company as to why the claim was adjusted by so much more since they are just doing what they should have done to begin with. I was told that not only had they asked for a new headlight, they also added on a charge for a new bumper cover. I had the car in my posession while they were ordering the new light so I have no idea why they added on the charge for a new bumper cover. A new bumper cover was not listed in the estimate I was given and the bumper was already on the car when I picked it up. I have no idea whether I have a new bumper cover, I just know that my insurance company was charged for one.

So, to sum this all up, North Columbus Collision does good body work but I question their ethics when it comes to what work they charge for and what work they actually do.
