Stayed here in 2003. If you are looking to go to Manhattan, Statue of Liberty, and tour the NYC area, this is THE place to stay. The bathrooms were "OK" (I like spotless bathrooms, and am very picky about them). They were not spotless, but not unbearable either. The whole place is under very tight security. The sites are right next to each other...like a parking lot. It is definetly "City camping". But it is VERY close to all attractions, only a 5 minute walk to public transportation to go to Manhattan. I have recommended it to many friends if they want to tour NYC. But I do warn them that it is not anything like a State Park or similar. But it is great if you are being a tourist!
