If your criteria are 1. good service, 2. superb knowledge of field, 3. prices, 4. selection, and 5. good old fashioned kindness, then these guys get 5 stars.
For a small shop (or even for a large shop), they cover an impressive range of eras and styles.
They are quite unique in that they fix old bikes, instead of simply ripping out slightly worn parts and selling you new expensive ones (as do many other bike stores). They appreciate vintage bikes and wont snub you, no matter what you ride. Sure, eventually parts get worn out - but they give you an honest answer about how much life your chain or derailleur has left.
They also know the current bikes and can set you up with a brand spankin new set of wheels that fit you well. They have a great selection, with a show room in addition to the main shop. Both rooms are crammed with bikes.
One of the best things about this shop is their devotion to getting a bike that fits you. They encourage you to try many bikes before buying one, and know how to look at your posture and determine how to make you most comfortable. If you don't like something, they are ready with all the right tools to make adjustments for you.
Aside from bikes, they offer a selection of saddles, gloves, hats, lights, baskets, and other bike accessories. They will put the accessory on your bike for you.
Hungry? They also offer snacks and drinks. They are conveniently located on the bike path so you can stop in for a quick bite.
