We adopted a puppy that we had viewed and spent time with twice. We were a little apprehensive because each time we visited this puppy we got a different story about him.When we got him home he had bone/dog aggression we called the SFHS we thought maybe if we got him neutered he would get better. It didn't and has not so i call them again (i have talked to them about 5 times now) they were very rude and refused to do anything even tho we have put almost $1000 in to this dog. They say that it is past the 7 days even thought we called the first time with in the 7 days. (we wanted to give him a chance and not have them put him to sleep) They take no responsibility even thought they said he was tested for aggression and fine with other dogs. They just keep telling us that he was a stray but yet the have talked to the previous owner and have his information. It has been nothing but lies and attitude from the staff such as us being told that he was there a month no wait 2 weeks to well he's on a stray hold this throughout a 2 week period of us considering him as a part of our family. To use it is all about the animals when it comes to shelters this is why we donate to this organization. However now i have a daughter that is in love with a dog that could cause harm on her (SFHS says that it says in his paper work good with kids it also said good with dogs and no aggression) and we are stuck in a position to bring him back knowing that he will be put to sleep when if they would have taken the time to correctly evaluate this puppy he could have been in a wonderful home with no other animals. I can honestly say that I will never deal with the SFHS again nor will I ever recommend them to anyone. I think the city of Sioux Falls needs to hold higher standards for the shelters when it comes to evaluations and that this particular shelter needs to be investigated to see how many more people there are going through the same issue that we are. No wonder why i have heard so much negative about the SFHS. To bad I had to experience it to believe it.
