I have grown up around this place my entire life, and I have never understood the hype around it. Most of the people who work there are very nice, so long as you aren't dealing with the children of the owners... who are far from polite on most occasions from my experience.
As far as the food goes? There are plenty of places within a 5-10 minute drive that serve a better version of everything I have ever eaten from this restaurant. BBQ? Good? Maybe if you've never had it from pretty much anywhere else. Seriously... I've had cafeteria bbq that tasted better, much less choose this over the myriad of nearby BBQ restaurants that are actually worth the trip.
Price? Outrageous. I agree that good foood isn't cheap. So the food should be much better than it is. For example... yesterday an old friend of mine I was meeting for lunch wanted to go here to eat just for old times' sake, so I reluctantly agreed. Order of Fries, Soft Drink, Single-Patty Bacon Cheeseburger = about 12 bucks. Now don't get me wrong, I am not beyond paying 12 bucks for said meal if it is delicious. This was not delicious. It was the same greased-up, poorly-cooked bacon, undercooked fries, and paid refills this place has been dishing out for years. Not worth it at all.
Some things never change, and I will always feel sorry for those who are so high on this place. Expand horizons.
The one thing I can say about this place that might make it perfect for you... If you are a fan of the Arkansas Razorbacks, Country Music, and a seemingly endless supply of hyperactive children screaming at the top of their lungs... step right in. Me? If at all possible I will be avoiding this place like the plague for the rest of my years.
