Golden Lantern Inn Bed and Breakfast

Red Wing, MN
Bed & Breakfasts, Hotels & Motels, Other Lodging

Review Date: 06/16/2009

The highlight of the Golden Lantern is the fabulous service that innkeeper Sioux provides. We stayed here for one night on a bicycling trip from Minneapolis to LaCrosse. Warm chocolate chip cookies were a perfect reception! Sioux gave us a tour of the lovely 1930s home where much of the woodwork and decor is original.
We stayed in Helen's room, which is a nice two-room suite with its own balcony. At first glance, the bed appeared lumpy as a previous reviewer had written, but was really comfortable that night. The furniture was appropriately "vintage" but, to me, seemed somewhat old and worn. That could very well be a matter of personal preference though. We loved having our own balcony for coffee in the morning (brought at 8 to your room). The breakfast Sioux fixed was fabulous as well, fruit with fresh whipped cream, hashbrowns, a delicious apple chicken sausage, and, my favorite, a stuffed french toast. We liked the B&B's location within walking distance to the main streets of Redwing.
We are considering purchasing a gift certificate for our grandmother to this bed and breakfast.
