I was ready to buy and went to rechecked out the Larkspur model homes by K Hovnanian. I was debating the Poppy or Iris, and wanted to see which floor plan I liked better. I was given the cold shoulder from the second I arrived. I had just came from washing my car and I guess they didn't like that I wasn't in my Sunday best. I over heard the two women working make remarks about me back and forth and laughing. Including that I couldn't afford to buy an home from them, the way I was dressed, my income, etc.....

They stayed in their office for 15-20 min and then one came to the Iris model that we were in. She looking around like something would be missing or damaged. Again she was condescending, saying how much the home was and that it was the most expensive model. She asked if we had seen the smaller starter home that is "much cheaper" and might be better fit for my budget. I informed her that I was looking at the Iris or Poppy, and that it was in my budget.

Once she found out where myself and my spouse worked, her attitude did a complete 180. She wanted to know the options we wanted, and how soon we would want to sign. Yeah, no thanks, we left.

I would have bought the Iris with hardwood floors, granite counter tops, back splash, tile roof, stainless steel appliances, upgraded fixtures, etc..... Why didn't I? I only support companies that treat customers right. Just because someone doesn't flash their income doesn't mean they should be treated differently. We make $120,000+ a year, but choose to dress casual and not flashy.

On top of that, if thats the way I was treating when I was looking at buying a home, how would it be if I had an issue with the home?

I bought a home that's not by K Hov and will be in it next week. Thank you for helping me narrow down my list of builders.
