Florida Suncoast Van Lines

Tampa, FL

Review Date: 10/30/2009

Florida Van Lines is the company to RUN from as fast as you can!! It has been years since we had our nightmare experience with them and I'm still not over it. We moved from Hilton Head SC to Sarasota FL. FVL were a day and a half late showing up! We told them we needed their largest van(empty) to move us. The mid sized van they came with was half full when they arrived on a Saturday at noon. By 2:00am the next morning they were throwing the items they arrived with off the truck into the street to accomodate ours. We had requested 4 experienced men. They arrived with 3 men and a child. Only one man had a drivers license. Another man had been released from prison the day before but had to leave in the middle of the move because his girlfriend was being released from prison that night. The third man was a hitch hicker they had picked up on the way to our home. The child of about 12 was able to count but not read. Actually only one of the men could read so they wrote big X's on our boxes. They were all filthy and didn't have a set of teeth between them,,,or brains either. They removed their shirts half way through the move and prespired all over our furniture. We were beginning to fear them at one point. I will never forget the sight of one man carrying 2 custom made pillows under his bare arms through my living room. Obviously those pillows didn't make the move. Nor will I forget the huge solid mahogany armoire they rolled down our driveway with no padding as I ran after them before it crashed off the dolly. By 3:00 am the morning after they arrived we were still trying to empty our home. The van they arrived in was overloaded. The last item they put in was a cherub fountain that the driver shoved in with his foot and broke the head off. At that point my husband expelled them from our property. They drove off with our valuables, which we didn't see for another week, as they screamed foul language at each other. It was supposed to be a 2 day move. We had to be out of our home by 8:00 Monday morning and still had furniture left in it at 3:00am Sunday morning and no way of moving it. My husband had to find another moving truck on a Sunday morning and arrange to have the rest of our items moved. We bought an extra $100,000 on our contract with them worth of insurance on our belongings. We had about $25,000 worth of damages and had to fight with their attorney's for years just to get $1,800. This is a true story. There is much more but this will give anyone considering using Florida Van Lines as a mover a lot to think about. It was a true moving nightmare I will never forget as long as I live.
