Being from out of town, this restaurant was recommended to me as one that served great, classic italian food. So with a healthy appetite and wallet I took a friend there recently for an early dinner, hoping that it was all they said it was. Sadly, it wasn't. The first indication was my salad which was served with a tomato way past it's prime and some limp letttuce. Hmmm. Next up was a wonderful sounding prawn appetizer that was tasty but I really didn't get what they were thinking with the rest of the mess in the martini glass it was served in. It was just weird. For my entree I ordered Ossobuco, a favorite of mine. While the meat was soft and the serving large enough, it was virtually without any flavor due to the exclusion of herbs or spices including the traditional gremolata that goes on top. What a letdown. A pricey one. For the romantics, yes, the ambience is great and for someone who hasn't had a great deal of experience in culinary pursuits, the food will be fine. I wish it had been better for my visit, I really wanted to like this place. Maybe it was just an off night, who knows.
