Don’t waste your time or money unless you like the run around
I tried saving money by bringing my flat screen TV to a repair shop (I suspected that it needed a new backlight) because it had no picture but it still had sound. I brought it in on a Wednesday and was told that we would first have to leave a $40 deposit, plus it would take 2-3 days for the technician to even look at it and when they did, they would call me back with a quote and an approval request to begin the work. Advance Solutions (HA! what a name) called the following Friday and we gave them the approval. During this phone call, they said they had to order a part and that it would take 2-3 days but that when it arrived, work will begin immediately. I knew something was up when I didn’t hear anything from this place. I waited a full week to call for a status update. When I did call, they asked if someone called to give me a quote and this is when I knew that my TV slipped through the cracks. I repeated the whole story and the guy put me on hold to “find the technician’s notes”. They said they would have to order the part even though they said the same thing the week before. I knew they didn’t want to say that they forgot to mark down the approval but at the time I let it go because things happen. I waited until Monday to call and they said that they were installing the part. I called again on Wednesday and they said that they were waiting for the part that they ordered to come in. WHAT?!? On Monday you told me that you were installing it! They put me on hold again and when they came back, they said that they were running test and that it should be ready on Friday. On Friday we called (again), and they said that my TV was still not ready. I was so frustrated and had enough. I told them to cancel the work and get my TV ready for pick up. They said that I would not be able to pick it up right away because they had to take out the parts that they already installed. (“Didn’t they say that they were waiting for parts to come in just two days before?”). I picked the TV up a few days later and the front desk person stupidly remarked “If you look at it, we only had the TV for 11 business days.” Riiiiight….because we don’t watch TV at night or on the weekends. I know it’s a small place but still, 11 days and we had nothing to show for it. I wasted two weeks with these people and the least they could have done was pretend that something was being done. We got our deposit back and in the end, we just ended up buying a new and bigger TV for the Yankee playoffs from PC Richard & Son. Please don’t waste your time, you will never get it back.
