Fort Kaskaskia is an awesome park. It has a great, hewn-log pavilian, play areas, an overlook where you can see where the Mississippi River and the Kaskaskia Rivers come together. There is a very nice camping area and just an awesome sight. Every Fall, there is an annual Music Festival, with lots of people from all around coming to participate and to listen to some great bluegrass music. There is also a great, very old cemetery where the first governor of IL is buried.
I hear that this will be among some parks in Randolph County, IL that will be closing because of lack of funds to keep it going. This is a real shame to even consider. Please......let's fight to keep this park open for generations to come.
