We wandered along the Blue Ridge Parkway until evening when we began looking for lodging in Spruce Pine, NC. The first stop was full but the attendant directed us down to the Pinebridge Inn, so we were thankful to find lodging at 8 pm. We were happy with the price, about $78 with a AAA discount, for four adults. The building is an old school and the decor is in keeping with that theme, so at least there are interesting things on the walls to read. The furniture on the 'front porch' was new, comfortable resin rockers and that was nice after driving all day. The room itself sufficed, beds, air con, bathroom, TV. But the breakfast was over the top! Nestled in a cozy dining room we could choose from hot eggs and bacon, fresh cooked waffles, cold cereal, yogurt, tea, coffee, juice, just about anything you might want for breakfast while traveling. This was a different kind of place to stay with a lot of history and we like the unusual so it worked out for us but if you are looking for something classy, keep looking.
