The classical dome was added in 1902, and the building underwent several other subsequent expansions. The capitol was almost torn down to make room for a new one in the 1970s, but was saved through citizens actions. Today, on display in the capitol are well-preserved photographs, audio clips, recordings and visual exhibits on the same and the building functions as the Florida Historic Capitol Museum. Less
