   MoreWelcome to the T.B. Blackstone Memorial Library, a historic landmark and an essential part of the Chicago Public Library System. The building, designed by renowned Chicago architect Solon S. Beman, is named after Timothy Beach Blackstone, a visionary leader who served as President of the Chicago and Alton Railroad for more than 35 years. The library has undergone several renovations over the years to modernize and expand its facilities to serve the Hyde Park, Kenwood, and Oakland communities. As one of the 79 branch libraries in Chicago, Blackstone Library serves 17 elementary schools and 4 high schools. In recognition of its cultural and architectural significance, the Blackstone Library was designated as a Chicago Landmark in 2010.
