He completed his Pediatric residency and fellowship in Pediatric Endocrinology at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, Iowa. He was the Chief Pediatric Resident at Iowa as well. He is a member of the Lawson Wilkin's Pediatric Endocrine Society and the American Diabetes Association. He has been a member of the Pediatric Endocrine Advisory Council to the Michigan Newborn Screening Program. Dr. Gerrits has a special interest in adrenal disorders and Turner's syndrome.
