The store is vital to our mission: lifting Houston's homeless and mentally ill by providing work and work training to help move them toward self-sufficiency. Additionally the Anawim Thrift Store has as its mission to provide clothing and goods to different social backgrounds and cultures. Founded in the Catholic tradition in 1968, Magnificat Houses has provided housing, meaningful community, spiritual and temporal support, to more than 10,000 of Houston's neediest. Our facilities also include 13 dignified residential homes, two mental health centers providing uplifting weekday programs, and Loaves & Fishes, our downtown soup kitchen daily serving 200-300 hot meals free-no questions asked--since 1976.
