   MoreBuilt in 1930, Russell Theatre was included in the National Register of Historical Places in 2006. It has a rather eventful and vivid past. Col. J. B. Russell announced its construction in 1928. The building was unique in adapting the Spanish Colonial Revival style and it was decorated with gargoyles, literary busts, floating clouds and rainbows. From 1970 to 1983, much of its interiors were altered due to a change in governance. Later the iconic theater underwent many different roles and was completely abandoned up until 1995, when a non-profit organization took over. Much of its framework was restored and now the Russell Theatre is a film center screening old films, documentaries and parallel cinema. It also holds various exhibitions and fundraisers. Less
