While its bullet-ridden walls may surprise visitors, they serve as effective visual reminders of the theater's colorful past. Between 1881 and 1889, there was a poker game in the basement, believed to be the longest of its kind, and non-stop entertainment upstairs from some of the day's top musicians and actors. In the concert hall section, the area was divided into cages.
