In 2007, the Hammer condensed its collection to its very best pieces and recreated itself to feature the most 'cutting-edge' of contemporary art. Now the museum is filled not just with classic paintings but features poetry readings, political debates, celebrity events and late-night DJ parties that are free to students and young artists. The Hammer Project brings up-and-coming artists to center stage featuring them in solo exhibitions, which supports the Hammer's new image as a leader in contemporary art.
