The TK program emphasizes social skills within a framework of the child's emerging capacity for industriousness. A combination of free play opportunities is balanced by more structured group activities. Journaling presents time for written language and pictorial skills. Club time, which is a child led opportunity for the children to concentrate on a specific topic. Varied learning materials allow children to learn in their own ways, building on their strengths and posing challenges when appropriate. Schedule: Monday through Friday, 9:00am - 2:30pm with an optional early start at 8:30 and optional late pick up at 4:00pm The First School also offers an introductory Toddler program for families. Toddler groups are offered Monday-Friday from 9:30am - 11:15am. This class consists of indoor and outdoor play, snack, story time, and circle time. Toddlers with the help of the toddler teachers, learn through hands on sensory play and gross motor activities. Using visual and auditory cues, the toddlers learn to follow a routine.
