Since 1965, this chapter has supported a number of initiatives, including scholarships, clothing drives and book drives for children in that community. It also operates a Bargain Box thrift store, the proceeds of which fund its various projects. Assistance League was the first nonprofit, nonpolitical, nonsectarian organization founded in the Western United States to utilize volunteers to help those less. With approximately 24,000 members in 115 chapters throughout the country, Assistance League volunteers work more than 2 million hours each year to address the emotional and physical needs of children and adults of all ages through philanthropic projects.
