The minimalist, links-style course was designed by architect, Gil Hanse, in collaboration with golf writer, Geoff Shackelford, both of whom favor a more traditional design ethos. The wide fairways make it possible to approach each hole from several different angles, with room for putting, chipping and pitch shots as well. While the first nine holes are on fairly level ground, the latter nine present a greater challenge as the course moves closer to the foot of the surrounding mountains, the elevation change and relatively rugged terrain making for great natural hurdles. The setting itself is spectacular, surrounded by soaring mountain peaks and majestic hills. For practice, the Rustic Canyon also features chipping and putting greens, a driving range, and a well-stocked pro shop that also offers golf lessons. Golfers of every age are welcome. Less
