The psychosocial rehabilitation unit has more than 40 beds. The institute serves individuals between the ages of 18 to 65 who are residents of one of the five community services board districts in Northern Virginia comprising Arlington, Alexandria, Fairfax-Falls Church, Loudon and Prince William. All patients participate in treatment planning activities and receive group treatment services.
