We cover basic techniques in various mediums, starting with charcoal pencil, charcoal, pastels, and watercolor. As the student gains confidence, the subject matter becomes more complex, and more techniques are covered. Acrylics and oil painting techniques are presented in progressive steps. Besides the mechanics of drawing, painting and the art vocabulary, we explore finer components of art, such as composition, creating the illusion of depth, tone drawing, and color theory. We have fun with some fashion, garden and home design, and graphic design projects that encourage individual creativity and teach about various professions an artist can have.
