   MoreLocated on the grounds of the Dartmouth College in Hanover, the Baker-Berry Library towers at 200 feet (60.96 meters) above the campus. The main inspiration for the Baker-Berry Library tower came from the iconic Independence Hall in Philadelphia. The library went by its erstwhile name of Fisher Ames Baker Memorial Library, until the adjoining Berry Library funded by John Berry joined its location. When opened originally in 1928, the library comprised of a 240,000 volumes. The collection has grown by leaps and bounds, and currently carries a whopping two million volumes in its confines. One of the highlights of the library is the stunning mural of The Epic of American Civilization by painter José Clemente Orozco, which is located in the basement reading room. Less
