MoreThe original Video/Visuals was founded in 1972 as 'Northlight Video/Visuals, Inc in Wellesley, Massachusetts by Bob Lewis, Charles Phillips and Andrika Donovan. Bob and Charles had performed psychedelic lightshows in England in the late 60's, and moved to Massachusetts for Bob to spend 2 years at M.I.T.'s Center for Advanced Visual Studies. Here, the liquid projections evolved to laser and electronic abstract imagery. Video art was a little ahead of the marketplace, so in 1975 the name was abridged to Video/Visuals, Inc. and the U.S. trademark was registered for videotape production and equipment rental. Video/Visuals, Inc. became a significant player in the video presentation and production business in New England and beyond. A pioneer in video projection, V/V initiated computer image projection in 1974 with CAD wireframe images projected in trade shows for Adage, an early developer of computer graphics. Early work included large screen video projection events in New England, beginning with live I-Mag of Ethel Merman singing 'God Bless America' at the '72 Massachusetts Republican Convention. Later V/V staged virtually all the closed-circuit sports events in New England, such as Mohammed Ali vs -, World Cup Soccer, and for the Hagler-Sugar Ray bout, 100 large screens in 35 arena and club venues throughout the northeast. A wide range of other applications kept the company on the forefront of this developing field for over 25 years. In the 80's and 90's, Video/Visuals also provided video production services for many corporate and broadcast clients. V/V supported single and multi-cam recordings for business and entertainment, sometimes combining the resources in large event video 'I-Mag' services, video post-production, including on-line component Betacam and Avid edit rooms produced corporate meeting and technology sales programs for many of the areas leading companies. The AV services and sales business of the company was sold to Bauer AV, a national company in 1997, and the remaining business moved to Boston. Here, under the name PixMix Video Services, the multi-camera business was upgraded, and got busy with the leading Web service providers such as Akamai. PixMix added live fiber to the services, and became a regional competitor in live-interview services to the network national and international television companies. PixMix was sold to employee/manager Ray Boyer in 2004, and continues to be a busy player in these business areas. ( www.pixmix.net ) V/V then revived the audio-visual services and became the 'go-to' for many of Raytheon's critical presentations. This remaining Audio-Visual activities were transferred to Productive Media ( wwwproductivemedia.com ), V/V is now offering technical consultation and creative programming content for television, home programming and other outlets for creative visual works. With a noted background in video as fine-art and 35 years of production and presentation support to leading national clients, founder Bob Lewis is combining meaningful content with visual effects and artistic content.
