Patrick graduated from Bates Vocational College in 1988, where he received an award of honors for academic achievement. Worked as a dental laboratory technician and then went into business for himself in 1991. He became a licensed denturist in 1996 and then owned and operated Gig Harbor Denture Clinic from 1996 to 2005, Patrick sold his business and moved with his family to Olympia.
