Our contemporary creations are entirely made by hand without chemicals, as they have been since the time of antique carpetweaving. The breathtaking designs utilized in the creation of our carpets are the innovation of the artist Bahram Shabahang, his background as an architect and his family's history in carpetmaking that dates back to the time of the Safavid dynasty. In the process of re-creating this cottage industry, Bahram resurrected discontinued knotting techniques, re-instituted the hand spinning of wool, and built a natural color dyeing facility. Working house to house in villages where centuries-old knotting techniques are passed down through generations, the weavers that knot these carpets take as great pride in their artistry as we do.
