   MoreI believe there to be 2 principal traits necessary to affect a success contact. Those tools are your ability to listen and to speak. You must listen and speak on every contact you ever make. Perfecting these skills is more important than become an exemplary marksman. Careers rarely end over a use-of-force, its more likely that ones mouth or their inability to listen and properly communicate will be the end of their career. I prided myself in active listening coupled with calm, articulate and confident voice inflection. This is not just to achieve an objective but also be the best person you can be. I was entrusted with specialized assignments such as working as an undercover narcotics investigator (Assigned to DEA MET-II) and later in my career being selected to as a Field Training Officer. My ability to be a Peace Officer was cut short due to an on-duty injury (recv'd medical retirement). During my tenure I authored and supervised a multi-jurisdictional wire tap investigation targeting narcotics trafficking throughout southern California, Arizona and Nevada.
